A friend of ours graduated this year from high school, home schooled, and after reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho decided to include a few quotes in her card along with some other ending quotes.
“What is the world’s greatest lie?” the little boy asks.
The old man replies, “It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.”
“You came so that you could learn about your dreams,” said the old woman. “And dreams are the language of God. When he speaks in our language, I can interpret what he has said. But if he speaks in the language of the soul, it is only you who can understand.”
“And, when you want something, all the universe (Holy Spirit) conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
“But he was able to understand one thing: making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him into places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.”
“The boy and his heart had become friends, and neither was capable now of betraying the other.”
“Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you´ll find your treasure”
“Well, then, why should I listen to my heart?
…Because you will never again be able to keep it quiet.”
“You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it’s better to listen to what it has to say. That way, you’ll never have to fear an unanticipated blow.”
“He learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke—the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love.”
“There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.”
– Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
“…and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
– Romans 5:5
“May your heart always be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
May Jesus always be the helmsman of your little spiritual ship.
May Mary be the star which shines on your path
and may she show you the safe way to reach the Heavenly Father”
– by St. Pio of Pietrelcina
